Katherine and Jon have been friends and clients for so many years! It was so much fun to catch up with them and their kiddo, who is a HUGE cat guy even though he doesn’t have a cat. He did like to hear about my cats and see their photos, and then he drew them a picture at the end of the session which was a bunch of smiley faces nested inside other smiley faces. Our cats loved it. He’s also a top notch superhero who excels at riding his scooter around the neighborhood, drawing the beach in chalk, and building Rube Goldberg devices with magnet tiles. He’s a super cool kid with super cool parents who have amazing taste in music and television while being the nicest humans. I love this little family as friends and clients – and there’s nothing better than that!

I always love meeting new people but it’s always especially fun to photograph your friends. Katie and I have been friends since photographing her wedding in 2017 and I adore working with her and also watching Scream movie marathons with her, both in equal measure. She’s one of the most intelligent and calmest women I’ve ever met, and I respect the hell out of her (and her amazing shoes, blazers, and pantsuits). So fun to update her headshots during a mini session in Durham!

I’ve never worked with anyone who has brought a giant inflatable tube of Crest toothpaste to their shoot before and now I’m wondering why the heck not. Wylie is a very fun dentist. We had inflatable Crest! We had a plush pink toothbrush! We had a shark cardigan! We had an amazing time! Wylie is in the process of opening a dental practice in Raleigh, NC with his wonderful wife Sharon. They’re originally from the area and, having lived in a few different places, recently moved back to NC with their cat who is black and also named Jack. The photo session was definitely meant to be. I had a ton of fun running around Raleigh taking new headshots of Wylie while talking teeth, cats, and cardigans.
